NATIONAL BUSINESS PRODUCTS INDUSTRY

37 years ago, corporate leaders from the Office Products Industry united in support of a higher cause – to help City of Hope find the cures to cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses.  The National Office Products Industry was formed and today under its leadership has raised more than $184 million towards life-saving cancer and diabetes research and treatment at City of Hope. Today, the National Business Products Industry has diversified to include all major sectors within the industry, including Office, Technology, Breakroom/Food Service, Industrial/JanSan, Furniture, Packaging, Health and Safety. Together their impact resonates on City of Hope’s main campus, funding the development of some of its most transformative facilities to date.

CITY OF HOPE | NATIONAL BUSINESS PRODUCTS INDUSTRY

Each year, an industry leader is named as the Spirit of Life Honoree, City of Hope’s highest humanitarian accolade.  That individual along with their company are charged with leading the fundraising campaign for that year, serving as the industry’s top ambassador for City of Hope. Today, the campaign enjoys the annual support of literally hundreds of NBPI companies from every segment of the industry – superstores, independent dealers, online resellers, wholesalers, buying and service groups, manufacturers, service companies and sales reps.  Support is provided by company attendance at numerous industry fundraisers and business networking events such as The Bob Parker Memorial Golf Outing at Kohler, The Honoree Golf Outing at The Royal Club, the Howard Wolf Golf Classic and the Spirit of Life Gala in Chicago.  More importantly, companies also lend their very important support by serving as fundraisers:
  • Hosting golf outings and business summit events with their top direct and nondirect business partners, vendors and suppliers.
  • Providing employees with the opportunity to also participate in the campaign through various associate fundraising activities and payroll deductions.
  • Engaging the consumer through numerous product sales promotions and matching donation programs.
  • Raising funds and awareness through sponsorship participation in a number of our national events including Walk for Hope and the Nashville Celebrity Softball Game.
  • The 2018 fundraising campaign raised a record $15.1 million honoring Rick Toppin, President and CEO of S.P. Richards Co.
  • Today, the NBPI industry is considered the leading industry support group for City of Hope.
